William David Winter Collection of Marine Insurance Books

The William David Winter Collection of Marine Insurance is a world leader in terms of the scope and the depth of the ocean marine insurance books, publications and collected works. It also serves as a memorial to the late president and chairman of the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company, William David Winter. The Association of Average Adjusters’ collection of American and British maritime law is also housed in the collection.Within this part of the collection are rare books on marine insurance dating back to the 1700’s.

Historical Insurance Policy Collection, 1655-current

The Historical Insurance Policy Collection contains notable documents such as two life insurance policies for slaves from the 1800’s, as well as other historical life, fire, and marine insurance policies. The oldest policy in the collection is from 1655.
