Nathan E. Preston (1889-1962) operated his own insurance agency beginning in the late 1920’s, working for several insurance companies. He sold insurance from his office at the Commercial National Bank Building in St. Joseph, Michigan for over thirty years. His cash books show the business transactions of his insurance agency as well as his personal expenses and other sources of income.
