The New York State Insurance Department was created in 1859. Francis R. Stoddard, Jr. was Deputy Superintendent from 1915 to 1921, and Superintendent from December 1, 1921 to June 30, 1924.
This collection contains two binders of typewritten minutes of the Superintendent of Insurance of the State of New York, Francis R. Stoddard, Jr. The minutes detail the daily activities and phone conversations of the superintendent, as well as memorandums. The first binder contains minutes from January 5, 1923 to May 18, 1923. The second binder contains minutes from January 4, 1924 to July 1, 1924. All pages are numbered in the upper right hand corner. Both binders contain an alphabetical list of names and insurance companies, handwritten.
